Green Lane Burial Field
Terms & Conditions
The conditions that protect the natural character of the burial field and provide clarity for every family.
01 — Our agreement
A shared responsibility
These conditions help Green Lane remain a peaceful natural burial field, cared for as a hay meadow and working rural landscape.
By arranging a burial or visiting the field, families and visitors agree to respect its natural management, the safety of others and the long-term care of every grave.

Rights and arrangements
-
Right of burial
On payment of the fee in force at the time, a right of burial is granted without limit of time. This right is not transferable.
-
Grave preparation
The proprietors arrange for the grave to be dug and filled. Family and friends may assist with filling the grave by prior agreement, under supervision and at their own risk.
-
Coffins and shrouds
Every coffin or shroud must be fully biodegradable. Plastic, metal and other materials that will not break down naturally must not be used.
-
Burial register
The proprietors maintain a permanent Register of Burials. The register is available for inspection by appointment.
Graves and memorials
Graves return gently and naturally to the meadow.
Natural character
Green Lane does not encourage conventional memorialisation. Headstones, permanent ornaments and artificial tributes are not part of the natural burial field.
Flowers
Only natural flowers may be placed on or near a grave. Flowers left following a burial will be removed after two weeks. Floral foam, plastic wrapping, wire and artificial flowers must not be used.
Planting
Selected spring bulbs and native meadow flowers may be planted only with permission and at an appropriate time of year. This protects the field’s habitat and allows planting to fit its management plan.
03 — Visiting the field
Respecting the land
Opening times
Visitors are welcome during daylight hours. Access to parts of the field may occasionally be restricted where necessary for burials, farm work, land management or safety.
Meadow conditions
The burial field is managed as a hay meadow. Grass may be long during late spring and summer, and paths and ground conditions will vary with the season and weather.
Dogs
Dogs must be kept under strict control at all times. Owners are responsible for ensuring they do not disturb livestock, wildlife, other visitors or graves.
Vehicles
Vehicles must remain in the designated car parking area unless other arrangements have been agreed with the proprietors.
These conditions preserve the field for everyone who rests in or visits it.
The proprietors may take reasonable steps to protect visitors, graves, wildlife and the working farm, including temporarily restricting access where conditions require it.
If you are uncertain about flowers, planting, visiting or burial arrangements, please contact Green Lane before making plans.
